SOUTHFIELD, MI: June 7, 2006: Arcadia Resources, Inc. (AMEX:KAD), a leading national provider of home care and staffing services, mail order pharmacy, respiratory and durable medical equipment, announced today that it has formed a strategic partnership with the Physicians' Organization of Western Michigan (POWM), a 570-member independent physicians' coalition and the largest of its kind in the state of Michigan. Arcadia will open and operate walk-in, routine/non-emergency medical clinics staffed by Arcadia's Nurse Practitioners. POWM will provide medical oversight and ensure best medical practices are consistently met throughout each clinic's operations.
Arcadia Resources, Inc. Chairman and CEO John Elliott II said, "Arcadia's strongest asset, that of human capital, combined with our reputation for providing professional staffing, durable and respiratory medical equipment and home health care services, makes us uniquely qualified to partner with POWM. Through our collaborative efforts, we look forward to driving the new evolution in alternate site health care - the clinic within a retail store."
Elliott continued, "The U.S. alternate site retail clinic market is still in its infancy, and is poised for tremendous future growth. POWM empowers us to establish a strong market position that ensures that patients receive the highest standards of medical practice."
David Silliven, Executive Director of POWM, stated, "With our partner Arcadia, we are confident in bringing the highest quality health care in a convenient, familiar community setting. Our retail site health clinics are designed to dramatically reduce the costs of routine medical care, increase efficiencies of health care service, as well as promote wellness by offering easy and affordable access to screening, vaccines and other routine testing."
Arcadia Director of Clinical Services Patricia Slayton, RN, MSN, ANP, will oversee the program, including recruitment, training, clinical standards and service delivery. Slayton commented, "Individuals and their families are seeking neighborhood health care solutions that don't involve traveling a great distance, spending hours in an emergency treatment facility or hospital, or paying hundreds of dollars for routine treatment. Our walk-in clinics can help resolve these long-standing issues."
The walk-in clinics will offer non-urgent medical services, such as the treatment for ear infections, scrapes, and minor injuries. Additionally, the clinic will provide vaccines and routine screening, such as cholesterol and blood pressure, without an appointment and with little or no waiting time. Arcadia's Nurse Practitioners will staff the clinics and have the ability to write prescriptions when appropriate. Since the clinics will be located within retail stores, prescriptions can be filled on-site.
